Question and Answers

Q:

my 11024692300 was in mid-load, about to drain and rinse, when it stopped working. I pulled the plug for a few minutes, and tried to resume washing .No luck.

A:

If the washer will not operate in agitation or drain and spin but only adds water or fills, the failure is most likely a broken lid switch. The lid switch makes and breaks the neutral supply to the motor. In order to access and replace the lid switch will require removing the washer cabinet. The lid switch is part #3949238 and is available to order and have it shipped to you from Sears Parts Direct . I added a link below with the instructions.

How do you access the motor in order to replace the motor coupler?

Q:

Kenmore 11024692300 . Is there a Manual or service info, i.e how to manually drain this thing?

A:

You can likely drain this washer using a gravity drain method. Arrange a shallow pan or bucket on the floor next to the washer to catch the water. Remove the drain hose from the stand pipe (or sink) and lower it close to the ground above the shallow pan or bucket. The water should drain out of the washer unless the drain hose or pump is clogged.

If the motor will not run at all but the washer will fill with water, you could have a broken lid switch. Here is a link for a previous answer that shows how to access and replace the lid switch in this type of washer: How do I change the lid switch on my Kenmore washer? . If you can access the lid switch wire harness in the console (with the washer unplugged), you can try placing an insulated jumper wire in the harness to bypass this switch and see if the washer will run (after plugging it back in). (The wires on your lid switch harness will be gray and white.) Do not continue to run the washer with this switch bypassed. It is an important safety component that must be replaced. You can order a new lid switch from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for your lid switch is 3949238.
