Question and Answers

Q:

I have a kenmore washer that starts the wash but will not spin to empty so it could start the rinse, either setting or rinse cycle

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern when the washer is not spinning out in any cycle.

  • If the unit is not attempting to spin, do you hear the motor running?

  • If you have a full tub of water and the motor is not running I would say it is a bad lid switch.

  • If you put the washer to a spin cycle and open the lid and push on the lid switch tab and it tries to move the tub but can stop it with you hand, then it will be the clutch or the drive coupling.

If you are intending to repair the washer yourself, please give me more detail through the link and I will be glad to help you through the repair process.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Washer water flow wouldn't stop when set. Washer has been in use for many, many years and this has never happened before. Suggestions? Model 11022912100

A:

The water level pressure switch may have stuck in the fill mode or the water level pressure switch hose connected between the water level pressure switch and the bottom side of the tub may have developed a hole. You will need to place the control panel in the service position in order to access the water level switch and remove the washer cabinet in order to check the water level pressure switch hose for any holes. To place the control panel in the service position:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  2. Remove the left and right hand end cap covers. (See images below)
  3. Remove each screw located at the bottom of the left and right hand end caps.
  4. Slide the control panel towards the front and then lift it up and hinge over the rear panel.
  5. To remove the cabinet, view the last image I added below.
Inspect the clear pressure switch hose for any holes or blockages. If the hose does not have any holes or blockages, replace the water level pressure switch. The water level pressure switch is part #3366846 which can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct .

Q:

Can you have the technician scheduled to come out bring a new lid switch for my washer?

A:

The technician should have the lid switch in his truck stock. I have no way of sending a message to the technician without your home phone number.

You can call 1-800-469-4663 to have them add a message to the service request to bring the lid switch assembly part# 3949238.
