Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore washer 11022632100 will not spin

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. Based on the symptoms you are having I suspect the problem is going to be a worn clutch. The clutch is made to slip during the spin cycle to slowly bring the spin basket up to full speed. When the clutch band wears out, it slips too much and the basket does not spin. There is a possibility that the basket drive or drive block are causing the problem but those do not fail as often as the clutch. I recommend replacing the clutch first to see if that cure the problem. The part number for the clutch is 285785 and can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

I have found a video that shows how to replace the clutch. Click here to watch the video.

I hope this is helpful. Please feel free to reply below with more details if you need further assistance.

Q:

Water is draining right out of my machine without it running

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your washer. By what you have stated I suspect there is a problem with the drain hose. If you have the washer draining into a standpipe, the drain hose from the washer should not be down in the pipe more than 8 inches. If you find there is more stuck down in the pipe you need to pull it out and secure it so that it cannot slip back down in the pipe or fall out.

If you are not using a standpipe the washers drain hose should be at least 39 inches high. If you set up is a floor drain you need to secure the hose at least 39 inches tall and install a vacuum break for the washer to operate properly. I have provided you with the installation instructions below.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to add more details below.

Q:

Kenmore washer will not spin

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your washer. I suspect the problem with the washer is a broken motor coupler. The coupler links the motor to the transmission instead of using a belt. When the coupler breaks, the washer will not agitate or spin and often will make an unusual noise. To verify the problem, I recommend starting the washer in a wash cycle. After the washer fills, check to see if the washer is agitating. If it is not, the motor coupler is likely the cause. The part number for the coupler is 285753A and can be ordered from our website Sears Parts Direct .

To replace the coupler unplug the washer first. Then use the images below to access the coupler. Use a screwdriver to pry off the rest of the old coupler. Then tap the new coupler onto the shafts with a deep well socket and a hammer. The parts of the coupler should be flush with the end of the shafts. Then reassemble the washer in the reverse order.

I have also found a video that will give you more confidence in repairing the washer yourself. Please click here to watch the video .

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
