Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my Kenmore #11022422100 Washing Machine start draining before it's done filling?

A:

The causes of draining while filling:

  • Drain hose is less than 39 inches above the floor.
  • Drain hose fits tightly into standpipe

The water is gravity draining because the drain hose is most likely stuffed too far down into the drain pipe or the drain hose is fitting to tightly in the drain pipe causing it to siphon. The hose should fit loosely in order to vent and not cause a siphoning issue. You will need to raise the drain hose to the level which causes the water to quit siphoning and then secure the drain hose at that height.

You did not mention why you are trying to remove the back panel on your washer, but the back panel does not need to be removed to gain access to most components of this washer. Here is a video that demonstrates the disassembly of a washer like yours; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The washer in this video may not look exactly like yours but the procedure is basically the same.
