Question and Answers

Ice maker keeps cycling 1068619712 Kenmore Refrigerator

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom, I recommend getting the gear kits that will have instruction on how to time the gears. This ice maker is also the defrost timer. I strongly suggest installing new gear kits.

If the defrost gears and ice maker gears are not timed correctly, the tray will continually rotate or it may not start a harvest cycle if it did stop. It can also prevent the unit from going into a defrost cycle too.

If the pin is damaged, it may not engage or disengage from the drive gear. Order and install the gear kit part number 4318061 following the instructions with kit. Note: The refrigerator will not operate without the icemaker installed and connected. Once the gear kit is installed correctly, the icemaker will start a harvest cycle. You cannot force this flex tray to start. When the holes in the gears align with the pin, the pin will spring into the hole and then start a harvest cycle.

Unplug the refrigerator before removing the icemaker and installing the gear kit.
