Q:

Diagnostic Mode 10674206400 Kenmore Elite Top mount refrigerator

A:

The service diagnostic cycle can be entered 12 seconds after the refrigerator is powered up. This mode test the thermistor inputs and control board outputs. The results of the thermistor checks are displayed as shown below. In steps 3 through 6, the component tested will be energized and should function if operational.

Diagnostics will begin at step 1. The freezer compartment (FC) temperature will display and show "O1" to indicate the control is step number 1.  The refrigerator  compartment (RC) temperature display will show "P" pass or "F" fail.

Press the freezer control (FC) UP key to advance to the next step.  The "FC" display advances each time the "FC" UP key is pressed.  The diganostic test will end after all the test have been completed or after 20 minutes have passed whichever one come first. The control will resume normal cooling.

Step 1- Tests the freezer (FC) thermistor. The board will test the resistance value of the thermistor and will display "P" for pass, "F1" for failed open or "F2" for shorted and failed.

Step 2- Tests the refrigerator (RC) thermistor. The board will test the resistance value of the thermistor and will display "P" for pass, "F1" for failed open or "F2" for shorted and failed.

Step 3- Tests the evaporator fan motor. Verify air passing thrrough the air tower from the freezer to the refrigerator section. The refrigerator light switch must be pushed and held in.

Step 4 - Tests the compressor and condensor fan motor. Visually verify operation.

Step 5- Tests air baffle motor in the air duct between the freezer and refrigerator section. Verify air passing through the air duct between the freezer and refrigerator. The display will show "P" for open, "F" for closed and it may take 30 seconds to display "P".

Step 6- Tests the defrost heater and the defrost bi-metal.  The display will show "P" indicating the defrost heater is engergized and the bi-metal is closed.  "F" will display if the heater is energized but the bi-metal is open.

Again, there should be tech sheet on the refrigerator if needed. Remove the lower front grill and look for sheet of paper stuck to the bottom of the cabinet or in an envelope.
