Question and Answers

Q:

how do I replace the ice shut on a Kenmore refrigerator door

A:

If you don't have a parts diagram, go to www.searspartsdirect.com and enter your model number. Select the "dispenser front parts" and you can see the parts inside the dispenser.

Item 6 is the flapper door that opens to dispense ice. Item 8 is the part that makes the door stay open a few seconds after you release the cradle.

To remove the cover and access these parts, insert a flatblade screwdriver into the 2 notches along the bottom of item 21 and pry the bottom edge out. Lift the front cover up to remove.
