Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Ref. 10657562790

A:

Jackie S. provided some links for previous answers in the above response. The part will not normally come with any instructions. That first link provided above may help you with this installation.

You may receive a coiled up line of water tubing instead of a tank. The installation will be the same whether you receive a tank or a coiled up line of tubing as the reservoir.

Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before installing this part. The basic repair involves removing the old reservoir and connecting the new one using proper water tube connectors. You can likely find John Guest type water fittings to connect the water tubes at your local hardware store or plumbing supply store. These fittings are easy to use since the water tubes just push into the fitting and seal.

If you are not confident that you can properly replace this component, I recommend that you have a service technician complete this repair. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

What would cause my water dispenser to not work?

A:

There could be several possible reasons why the water won't dispense. If your hear a slight hum or buzz when the dispenser cradle is pushed that would indicate that the water valve is energized so that would eliminate a dispenser switch failure. If there is no hum or buzz it could be a failed water valve or dispenser switch. Most likely the water reservoir is frozen with an ice blockage. Located behind one of the fresh food drawers is the water reservoir. Pull out the drawers and check to see for an ice blockage at one of the 2 water line connections. If it appears frozen carefully thaw out the blockage with a hair dryer. Do not overheat and cause the tubing or reservoir to melt or distort . Too cold of a fresh food setting can and will cause the reservoir to freeze and block the water from dispensing.

If there is no ice blockage at the reservoir I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your refrigerator.
