Question and Answers

Q:

how do i trouble shoot to see if my icemaker is getting water.model #10650592003

A:

Make sure that the ice bucket is properly in place and that the level sensing beam is not blocked. Maker sure that this ice maker on/off switch is in the on position.

The first step in troubleshooting this problem is to manually fill that ice mold with water (if it is not already filled with ice). See if the ice maker cycles and then refills. If the ice maker dumps the ice after manually filling it but does not refill with water then you could have a problem with the water valve or the ice maker module. Here is a troubleshooting video regarding the operation of the ice maker module in that type of refrigerator: Icemaker Repair Video . Since your ice maker system has a level sensing system, you will probably need to use the information in this link for a previous answer to test and troubleshoot that component: How do I get my icemaker to work? There is no ice/water in the system anywhere. . If the red LED light does not blink on the right wall of the freezer when you open that freezer door, then you will need to use the diagnostic information shown below to check that level sensing system. If the ice making system was serviced previously and the level sensing control boards were replaced (the red LED light will flash when you open the freezer door), then you can use the diagnostic test in that previous answer to check those boards. The rest of the information in that previous answer should help you diagnose and repair a water fill problem even if you have the original control boards installed in that system. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.

You can order parts from this page if necessary: Kenmore Refrigerator 106.50592003 Parts .

This can be a difficult ice making system to diagnose and repair. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine the refrigerator and fix this water fill problem, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Where is the ice maker hose found to defrost when my ice maker is not filling with water?

A:

The fill tube for the ice maker is show in the third image below. This image shows how a technician normally defrosts this tube if it is frozen. If the tube is okay, then you could have a different problem that is preventing your ice maker from filling. Since you want to repair this failure yourself, I provided extensive technical information regarding the diagnosis and testing of this ice maker system. The first image begins with the testing of the optics. If the optics are okay, then you can continue with the component testing of the module. NOTE: This information is intended for technicians. You should only conduct a test or procedure if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely complete it. If in doubt, I recommend calling a service technician to complete the repair.

If you are able to understand and use this technical information, you should be able to determine the cause of your failure and repair it yourself. If you need parts, you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
