Question and Answers

Q:

how to replace parts in ice shut for model #10650264991

A:

Barbara H. provided a link for a previous answer in the above response. That answer describes how to remove the front cover from the dispenser. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Remove the drip tray on the bottom of the dispenser cover. You will need to pry out on the bottom of the dispenser as described in the previous answer using a flat tip screwdriver. You may want to cover the tip of the screw driver with masking tape to prevent scratches on the front of the freezer door.

Once you get the cover off, you may need to unplug wiring to access the ice chute. Be sure that you document the placement of wires before removing them (take a digital picture if necessary). Once you remove the cover, you may also need to remove the control bracket (Key 15 in the parts drawing shown below). This bracket is secured by 2 screws (Key 22). Remove those screws and carefully pull out the bracket if necessary. Not the location of components inside the dispenser so that they can replaced properly.

This information should help you complete the replacement of the ice chute. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

water isn't flowing through the line, for my icemaker does the on/off valve under sink turn left or right?

A:

Turn the handle on the water valve left to turn it on. It will take the icemaker several hours to fill the tubing from the water valve. We all get too impatient when we are waiting for ice to be made.

Give the refrigerator another day and if the line still has not filled check to see if there is ice in the icemaker mold. If it is empty look at the fill tube at the rear and above the icemaker to see if it is frozen. If it is you can defrost it with a hair dryer.
