Q:

Pressure switch on model 106170641 air compressor

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the air compressor. When the pressure switch turns the motor off you should hear air leaking out for a few seconds. If it continues to leak out, I suspect the check valve in the tank is not sealing. The check valve is a one-way valve that allows air to enter the tank but not out. If it is not sealing, you can try cleaning it. I have posted the instructions for cleaning the check valve below. Just click on the image to enlarge it. If the compressor still leaks, you will need to replace the check valve.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Ron, If the tube is long enough, you can just cut the tube just above the ferrule. Then slide the old nut on the tube followed by a new ferrule. Insert the tube all the way into the check valve. While keeping the tube all the way down tighten the nut. Once you tighten the nut, it will seat the ferrule and seal. If the tube is not long enough. you will need to replace the tube. You should be able to get the replacement tube and ferrule for your local hardware store.

Ron, Te head bolts should be torqued to 7 to 10 foot pounds. You can use a very little locktite on the small screws. Just make sure it is in the hole and not on the reed valves. once you reassemble the pump give it a few hours for the locktite to cure.

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. The part number for the cylinder head is VT252901AJ and can be ordered from the following link. The new head comes with the pressure release tubing and instructions on how to install it. The large tube from the pump should go directly to the tank.
