Question and Answers

Q:

Self cleaning oven goes on (no codes displayed) but shuts off after one hour and does not clean the oven.

A:

Make sure that you are setting the self-clean cycle correctly on the clock control. The instructions for setting that self-clean cycle as shown in the image below. Here is a link for the full owner's manual on your range in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

If you are setting the oven to clean for 2 or 3 hours and it is shutting off after only one hour then the clock control board in the console will need to be replaced. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Use the full model number of your range to access the parts list diagram for your exact model. The number that you provided in your details is the part number for the owner's manual. The above information is based on the models that use that manual.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your range. The model number is around the opening to the oven cavity (open the oven door to view this area) or it could be on the base of the range in front of the left or right front leveling leg (open the bottom drawer to view this area.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your range.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I am sending you an image from the tech sheet for your range. The F1 code usually indicates the electronic oven control is bad.

Q:

What does the code F1 mean?

A:

The "F1" fault code is indicating one of the three failures listed below:

  1. Shorted keypad
  2. Electronic Oven Control's internal checksum may have become corrupted
  3. Electronic Oven Control has sensed a potential runaway oven condition. Control may have a shorted relay, oven sensor probe may have gone bad.

If the oven has runaway temperature, leave the breakers turned off.

The first component to test is the oven temperature sensor probe. I added an image with the specific resistance value of the oven sensor probe. You will need to compare the resistance readings of your oven sensor probe to the chart.

The oven temperature sensor probe is located inside the oven cavity and can be found protruding into the oven cavity from the rear panel. It can be removed and disconnected by removing the two screws. If the oven sensor has the correct resistance readings according to the chart I added, then the most likely the Oven Control Board has failed and will need to be replaced. The Electronic Oven Control (EOC) will cost approximately $150.00

Disconnect power, wait 30 seconds and reapply power. If the fault returns upon power-up, replace the Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.
