Troubleshooting

Question and Answers

Q:

How do I remove the door (outside cover) of my microwave (model 721.89940490)? I received the replacement part and it seems to snap in without any screws.

A:

Microwaves ovens should only be service by properlly qualified service technicians when ever it involves removing the door or whenever it needs serviced that is not covered in the Owner's manual. Even if it only involves removing or separating the door. The microwave must be tested for microwave energy leakage whenever the door is removed and reinstalled. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How to heat my oven after flex cleaning?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom it sounds like the thermal switch tripped open preventing the lower oven from heating. The thermal switch is located at the back of the range behind the rear panel. The thermal switch can be reset by pushing the RED reset button located in the center of the thermal switch.

NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power supply before removing the rear panel.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
