Question and Answers

Q:

Will not turn on

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

As Joseph P. suggested in the first response; adding the model number of product will be necessary to provide any assistance. The only thing I can suggest at this time is to check the outlet for power. Plug a hair dryer in and if it works then we know the outlet and voltage is Okay.

So that's what I can tell you at this point. I can give you more detailed help if you could provide me with the complete model number and any other details. If you could supply me with that information I will be happy to assist you further.

Q:

Saw will not turn.

A:

Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having a problem with the saw. In the details, you did not indicate if the saw is new to you or if you have had it for a while. If the saw is new, the problem could be that you are not pushing the locking tab after you loosen the knob. The image below shows the locking tab. Click on the image to enlarge it.  If you are pushing on the locking tab and it will not move I recommend tipping the saw over. Then use compressed air to blow out between the table and the pound table. After cleaned turn the unit back over and check the operation. If it will not turn, you will need to rely on your personal observation of what is causing the problem. I wish I could tell you exactly what to look for but I have not had this problem.  I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please reply below with more details. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

Q:

Why won't my dryer turn on?

A:

If the split knob prevents you from moving the timer into a position where a cycle is selected, then this could be causing your problem. If you pull the knob off and move the timer into a cycle position, you should be able to start the dryer if this is the problem. With most models, you should be able to purchase just the knob. You can visit the Sears PartsDirect website (www.searspartsdirect.com) to view the specific parts for your model of dryer.

If this is not the cause of your problem, several other failures can prevent the dryer from starting. Here are some things to check:

  • Check the electrical breakers for the dryer. Make sure that they are not tripped.
  • Make sure that the dryer door is closing properly. The dryer will not start if it senses that the door is open.
  • A thermal fuse in the dryer cabinet could be blown. A motor failure could also prevent the dryer from running.
Resubmit your question with the model number of your dryer and additional details if you need more help with this problem.
