Freezer: Interior lights don't work

If your interior lights don't turn on when you open the freezer door and you already replaced the light bulb, then the door or lid switch may have failed. Unplug the freezer and test the door switch using a multimeter. Replace the door switch if it failed.

Some freezers use LED’s to light the interior compartment. If an LED light board doesn’t light up when activated, replace the light board.

Faulty lighting system wiring also prevents interior lights from working. Repair or replace any damaged wiring in the lighting system.

These repairs may help solve your Freezer problem:

Replace the freezer LED light board

LED light board

The LED light board houses the LED light bulb(s). The electronic circuit board on the LED light board controls voltage going to the light bulb(s). You may see a burn mark on the electronic circuit board when it's defective. Replace the LED light board if it doesn't light up when activated.

Replace the freezer door switch

Door switch

The door switch turns the interior freezer lighting on and off and monitors door position. The interior lighting won't turn on if the door switch doesn't detect door opening. The door alarm activates constantly if the door switch doesn't detect door closing. Replace the door switch if it doesn't detect door position properly.
