- Can opener won’t turn—When a can opener will not turn to properly cut the lid, you'll want to check the internal gears. If you see that the gears are broken or worn, you'll want to replace the gears to continue normal operation.
- Deep fryer element won’t heat—If the element in your deep fryer isn’t heating, the power cord may not be plugged in properly or the element may be broken. Check the power cord and make sure the electrical outlet is working. To check the element, unplug the deep fryer and remove the bottom cover.
- Ice cream isn’t thick enough—If you're using an ice cream maker and you realize that your ice cream isn’t thick enough, then it's likely that the bowl isn't cold enough. To remedy the problem, simply place the bowl back in the freezer for a longer duration until you acquire proper ice cream thickness.
- Jars lose liquid during canning—When you're canning, it's important to remember not to overfill the jars. Jars that are filled too much will lead to a loss of liquid during the canning process.
- Popcorn is being scorched—Sometimes popcorn poppers can lead to scorched popcorn if they're not cleaned properly. Remember to remove any excess oil from your appliance to keep it from cooking onto metal components.

- Percolator tube—When water is heated in a coffee pot, it moves through a percolator tube to reach the basket. If you find your coffee maker isn’t percolating, then it's likely due to a clogged tube. To fix this issue, the tube may need to be cleaned or replaced.
- Percolator basket—The percolator basket is used to store grounds that are eventually wettened by the water from the percolator tube. Should you experience weak coffee, make sure that you're not overfilling the basket. If there are too many coffee grounds, the water can't properly pass through the holes, which will result in weak coffee.
