139.53973SRT Garage Door Opener 13953973SRT Craftsman Garage door opener
About two weeks when I push the button or the remote the door would move about 2 feet and then close on its own. After a few tries the sprocket where the chains turns fractured. I ordered the part from Sears installed in with no problems but the door continues to travel a few feet and returns on its own. I disconnected the wires to the button and used the remote with the same results. I disconnected the door and the chain travels two feet and returns on its own. Please help.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your garage door opener. Your symptoms point toward a need to adjust the "up" force on the garage door opener. This adjustment is described in the image below for a common Craftsman garage door opener. I would suggest that you try to adjust this frist. If this does not help, then the rpm sensor is faulty and will need to be replaced. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on the link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance.
