Kenmore Front Loading Washing Machine is having difficulty with water draining

Model 796.40448900 Kenmore. The machine is 3 years old 1. The main wash detergent compartment is full of water after each use. I have thoroughly cleaned the entire inside of the dispenser on a regular basis. 2. Cleaning the Drain Pump Filter: The drain hose does not let water out and it too has been cleaned. Rather, water pours from the pump filter instead.

Tina, thank you for the detailed information. Are you getting any kind of an error code? I've located a link that discusses the fact that too much soap can disable the drain pump. This may not be the circumstance you're dealing with but I was trying to find information for a washer that has a cleared pump but still wont drain. Click on the link below to view the page. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your washer. There are many external factor that can cause this type of problem. It could be that the drain pump is clogged, which is preventing all the water from draining. Also the drain pump itself has failed and needs to be replaced. The image below will provide some troubleshooting for this. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Is this something a homeowner can do without a technician?

AnneJ, August 07, 2013

Yes, the image shows you how to remove the pump. Just follow the directions in reverse tro install the new one. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hello, Where can we find the manual which shows where the pump impeller is located along w/other internal components listed in the answer?

AnneJ, August 19, 2013

The impeller is inside the drain pump. If the impeller is clogged you can remove the drain pump and clean it out. However, if it is damage or has stopped working, then the pump needs to be replace. None of the internal parts can be replace they are not available for individual sell. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
