Have a repair or installation question?

Lower oven 79098023801 Kenmore Elite Electric range

I have had my oven over a year now. After running a cleaning cycle the racks now collapse. It is virtually useless because of this. The racks will not even stay in place when the oven is not hot. I have had may HOT items collapse spilling. Thank God I have not been badly burned. What steps is Kenmore or Sears doing to fix this? I have seen that I am not the only one. And please do not tell me my racks have shrunk. This is not the case.

I can understand how frustrating and dangerous it can be to have these racks collapse. From your description I believe the Liner of the oven may have expanded. I have had similar questions regarding this in the past. That after performing the clean cycle the metal inside the oven doesn't go back down to the normal shape and size. I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page. Because this is a complicated repair I would recommend have a Sears Service Technician complete the repair.

In addition to my previous post. I had another expert take a look at your question. We have also found the on your model, you are to remove the racks before using the self clean mode do to the fact your oven gets up to such a high temperature it wears down the metal. So the metal won't be able to support itself. I would recommened replacing the racks first to see if this is the issue.
