Error Code F10-Kenmore Range

Why is my Kenmore Range model number 790.96112406 displaying the F10 error code during normal baking? We shut the oven off and now the error code keeps coming up when we turn the oven back on.

Appliances may have different code meanings depending on the manufacturer. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found some a great link in the Manage my Life website. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "F10" fault code means a Runaway Temperature. It is likely caused by a faulty oven control board or possibly a faulty oven temperature sensor probe. The oven temperature sensor probe can be removed from inside the oven cavity and tested with an Ohm meter. The oven temperature sensor is part #316490001 which can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect . I added a YouTube video showing how to test the oven sensor probe. The oven sensor should measure approximately 1100 ohms of resistance at room temperature. If the sensor tests Okay then the oven control board is faulty and it will need to be replaced.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
