How do I fix my Kenmore Ultrasoft 425 water softener.

I have a Kenmore Ultrasoft 425 (model 625.38888460) water softener. It was damaged in the hurricane and sat months until I was able to replace the upper circuit board. It is now reducing the water pressure to my house by about half. It has sat for many more months on bypass again. I've tried to recharge it mutliple times and hardly any water flows during recharg. I believe it is clogged. Do I replace the resin or something inside?

Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having a problem with the water softener. By what you have sated I suspect the problem is with either one of the distributors or the resin bed is full of sediment. To repair the softener, bypass the water and remove the valve body. The dump the resin and flush the tank out. Next, clean the distributors with a brush. Once they are clean, reassemble the softener with new resin. This should cure the problem. The parts can be ordered from out parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

Please let ne know if you need further assistance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life.
