Change light bulb in Kenmore microwave.

Kenmore Microwave model 721.7915. Interior light went out after only 2 months use. Manual has nothing about changing bulb. How do I do it.

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. If you think it may be cost effective to just replace the unit, I have also provided a link to the Microwave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If there is not a removable cover inside the oven cavity or on the side of the wrapper, the microwave was not designed in order for the user to replace the light bulb. The microwave will have to be taken in or call a service technician to come out and replace the light bulb.

I am sorry, but we do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. That's why I strongly warn you to have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

Normally at ManageMyLife.com we like to help you with all of your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous.

Thank you both for your input. I'll leave the changing of the bulb to the experts. I still don't know the wattage of this particular model, 700, 800, 1100,watts?

Joey S, August 17, 2012

Richard: I believe on page 9 in the Use and Care Guide it states the wattage. It says it's a 1200 watt microwave.

Richard, August 17, 2012

Joey, Thank you for your response. I don't have a Use and Care Guide, just an "Owners Manual and page 9 only addresses "operation" to set or chang the power level and Time cook with a chart "Time cook guide for several vegetables. The owners manual does not indicate anywhere what the wattage is, which seems a little strange to me.

Richard: If you copy and paste this address I have below in the URL window, you can view and download the Use and Care Guide. http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/132829/KENMORE-Countertop-Microwave-1007310L?brand_name_search=72179152010+

Joey, Thanks again, will do.

Richard, August 17, 2012

Joey, Used your address above and typed in my Model No. 91149489992 and the same manual that I have popped up. Still not sure of the wattage of this microwave. Must be a top secret.

Joey S, August 17, 2012

Richard: I'm sorry; I thought your model number was 721.7915. I was basing my answer from the original person asking how to change the oven cavity light in his microwave. So, you have a 911.49489929 model wall oven with a microwave above the oven? Just for your information I believe you provided an incorrect model number. Is 911.49489992 the correct model number? I was not able to confirm what the wattage is of model 911.49489992. I would think it would be at least 1000 watts.

Richard, August 17, 2012

Joey, Thank you for your efforts. Yes my model number is 911-49489992 and the wattage is a National secret known only to Sears and they aint telling anybody. Thank you again.
