I have a Kenmore model 41743042200 washer and I'm interested in advice on parts and repair.

From the your description the most likely cause of the problems you describe is a bad spin bearing.

The spin bearing is part of the rear half of the outer tub and to replace it requires a complete tub tear down.

This is major repair and I'd recommend a technician check and repair this problem.

There is one advantage to having a technician do this repair. Often the bearing will damage the shaft of the spin basket and the basket and shaft will have to be replaced along with the bearing. The spin basket and shaft would most likely be under warranty.

Replacing the bearing is not a good do-it-yourself project. On the following link: Sears PartsDirect you can look up the price on the rear shell with bearing part number 131462800 and the spin basket 131618500.

The images below contain the basic instructions to tear down the washer and replace the rear shell with bearing. You can see what's needed to change the rear bearing and why I recommend a technician do the repair unless you're very comfortable and confident in your do-it-yourself abilities.

If you wish to compare repair cost to replacement cost you can view some new similar washer from the following link: New Washers .

This information should give you a idea if this is something you want to repair or replace. If you have other questions then submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
