My Kenmore washer is flashing F28

My Kenmore HE2t front loading automatic washer (model 11047571600) will start a cycle but after about 15-30 minutes the cycle will end and F28 will flash. It does not seem to matter which wash cycle I am using. The machine did allow me to use the 2nd rinse spin and would complete that cycle. The machine is about 5 years old. I'm looking for possible causes to the problem and an idea of the cost to repair. With a five year old machine I need to consider the cost of repair against a new machine.

Error codes can be frustrating when there is laundry to be done. While you are waiting for an expert to respond I was able to locate some great information that could possibly assist you with your issue.  I have added the link. Hope this helps!

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your washer. The "F28" fault code means the communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. See image below for additional information. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing any panels. Based on your symptom and details, there is likely a loose wire connection at the MCU, CCU or at the motor. The intermittent "F28" could also be caused by a loose solder joint on CCU or MCU. This type of intermittent failure can be very hard to pin point.  I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
