Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about this frosting condition. This frosting indicates a problem with the defrost system. A good check that may help determine the problem, will be to, manually place this unit into a defrost cycle. To enter manual defrost, the control must be set to 2 and then both buttons must be held down for a couple of seconds. A D is displayed while in manual defrost. After a few minutes, if you can hear a hissing or popping sound inside the freezer, it means the heating element is on. This would indicate the control board # 297282800 is not advancing into defrost and will need to be replaced. Upon completion of the defrost cycle, the setting will return to setting # 2 and you must change the control back to the original setting. If the heating element does not come on, some voltage and resistance checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
