Why is my Kenmore HE3 dryer not heating up?

My Kenmore Elite HE3 gas dryer model number 110.92822101 will not heat up. I cleaned out the vent thinking it was clogged and it didn’t work. I pulled the front panel and looked for loose wires, nothing. i am thinking the igniter went or the thermostat. I do not have a voltage tester to use.

If the igniter is not coming on, the only way to know if it has failed is to check the voltage coming to the igniter. If the igniter is coming on but not lighting the burner I suspect weak gas valve coils. In the wiring diagram provided all of the components between common at the heater relay & the igniter have to show good in order for the igniter to work. If you decide to purchase a meter for testing, please get back with us for more specific troubleshooting tips.

Dave, I do have a multimeter to check the igniter... no voltage to igniter... black & white wire to plug.

Thanks for your help. We found that it was the thermal fuse. I removed, checked it with my multimeter and found that the thermal fuse and found that it had been "blown". After locating the part, and spending only $18, we solved the problem and it works like new again. Thanks again for your help.
