I have a pro-form 500 treadmill. The belt you run on is jerking to where it starts & stops a little. You have to hold on or you will fall off. Any suggestions?

The treadmill is a pro-form C500 and it is not performing correctly. I cannot run or walk on it without it jerking. Is there some sort of lubrication I'm supposed to use or can I just use WD40?

Do not use WD-40 on the belt of the treadmill. WD-40 will react with the lube that is already on the belt and gum it up.

I have provided you with the instructions below on how to adjust the walking belt. When you are walking on the belt pay attention to the front roller. If the front roller still still turns when the belt stops you need to adjust the walking belt.

If you have tightened the walking belt and the treadmill still slips the drive belt may be what is causing the problem. Unplug the treadmill and remove the cover. Very carefully plug the treadmill in and start the walk on the treadmill. You will need to watch the front roller. If the front roller stops when it slips the drive belt need to be adjusted. If the front roller keeps going the walking belt needs to be tightened. To tighten the motor drive belt unplug the treadmill. Now loosen the two mounting bolts. Move the motor so the belt is very tight. While holding the motor have someone tighten the mounting bolts. Now very carefully test the treadmill. If the treadmill works correctly, reinstall the hood.
