Maytag quiet series 200 dishwasher
The maytag quietseries 200 dishwasher only rund thru the wash cycle and never shuts off (i've waited up over an hr at one pt)...it wont go into into anything other than that. I've let it run in the different cycles (heavy/normal/light) and it is the same. The rinse only cycle does work. Wondering if it is a timer or some other mechanism. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks James, that was indeed helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to research. I'll call a tech at this time since other options did not fix it. I am also looking thru the manual to see what a normal cycle time should be...if you would happen to know of the top of your head. thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to submit a question. I'm glad to hear the Rinse Only cycle worked. This usually indicates the problem is related to the water heat.
These units can run 2 to 3 hours even when everything is working properly. The long cycle times are usually related to how fast the water is heated up.
One thing to note is when the unit is not advancing if you pause the unit and open the door is there steam and hot water.
Please reply with any additional details for further assistance.

Fred, thank you very much for the information. The connection is to the hot pipe and there is steam coming during the cycle, also the hw heater is about 120 degrees so all seems to check out ok . I am guessing it is just a long cycle. I'll let it run thru to 3 hrs and see what happens. Wondering if the new ones take that long to cycle thru. May be time for an upgrade. Again, thanks for your time.

The newer units can run 3-4 hours and be working okay. They run longer gut still use less water and less energy. The heater and motor are smaller and take longer but they use much less energy to do so.
