just bought a 725 series briggs & stratton electric start lawnmower and it wont start? model # 917.370441

i bought it last week and returned the first one because it would not attempt to start so now this new one doing same thing it i charged the battery for almost 24hrs am i doing something wrong ?? the engine has oil and gas whats the problem?

If the engine does not spin over when you turn the key then it may be that the harness is not plugged in securely.

If the engine does spin over but will not start, then we are looking a different problem that's not likely related to the electric starter. With the machine being new, I cannot imagine what would cause this to happen.

If there is a primer bulb on your model, make sure to press it about 3-5 times before you attempt to start the engine. If there is not a primer bulb then the engine should have an auto choke and I suspect there may be a problem with that.

As much as I hate to say it, I believe there may be a problem with this mower that will need to be tended to by a technician. Because it's so new, you may just want to talk to the store where purchased and see what they can do to get this resolved for you.
