Questions & Answers about this model powered by

725 Series Briggs & Stratton Engine Power-Propelled, Electric start will not start.

Purchase the Craftsman 190cc* 22" Front Drive Self-Propelled EZ Lawn some weeks ago. This is the first time that I attempted to use it. I followed the directions for charging the battery for the electric start , filled the gas and oil. Tried to start the lawn mower this morning manually by pulling the string and using the electric start and nothing happens. Any suggestions on why the lawnmower will not start.

hello jody,

i'm sorry to hear that you are having problems getting your new mower to start and i would like to assist you. i am assuming that your mower model is 917370440. i have included an excerpt from the owner's manual that describes the initial fill and operation. there are usually two items that can cause the issue that you have described; too much oil and fuel that has gone bad. be sure to check the dipstick and ensure that the oil level is not above the line that is towards the bottom of the stick. if there is too much oil, it can make it impossible for the engine to run. old fuel in a new mower is the most common of the two issues by a long shot. the manual recommends that no fuel containing ethanol be used, due to the potential for excessive water attraction and fuel breakdown. you will want to check your tank for debris that may have clogged the carburetor too.

please let me know about any of the conditions that i have mentioned and if there are any other details that you may want to reply with.
