Craftsman garage door opener lights will not turn on.

We just bought and installed a Craftsman Garage door opener, model #139.53985DM, 1/2 HP. Everything is working except the lights will not turn on. We put brand new lightbulbs into the unit and the lights still will not come on. Any suggestions?

I know it can be frustrating to have an issue with your new garage door opener. I see Joseph provided you with some good information. I'm happy to help you today.

Sometimes the contacts inside the sockets get flattened out and don't make contact with the base of the bulb. Unplug the opener and remove the bulbs. Using a small tool pull out on the center tab contact in the bulb socket just a little. Replace the bulbs and plug in the opener to see if this has made a difference.

If it that doesn't help, I strongly recommend scheduling warranty service on the unit. It is possible the socket or logic board could be defective. Warranty service can be scheduled at 1-800-4MY-HOME.
