Craftsman 19.2 Volt Inflator, Model 315.115860, hose will not clamp onto tire valve stem. Why? How can I fix it?
The Inflator works, but the clamp on the end of the hose will not clamp onto the valve stem of a tire. I never examined it closely when it did work, but it seems that when you press the lever down, something inside the clamp swells and gets tight around the tire valve stem. A rod presses the nipple inside of the tire valve stem, allowing the air to go in. When I press the lever down, I cannot see anything inside of the clamp that swells to get tight and clamp onto the valve stem. How is this supposed to work? How can I get it to work? Is the only option to buy a new hose? The hose only costs $13.73, but I don't want to buy another one until and unless I know what the problem is. I am very happy with the Inflator--I just want to get the hose clamp working so I can use it.

It is nice to hear when someone is happy with our products, like the Craftsman air regulator guage. How the lever works at the end of the hose is information an expert will research and respond with details within two business days. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you, but this is not an air regulator guage--it is an Inflator. It is a handheld compressor with a piston that compresses air to inflate a tire. I just wanted to ensure that the answer I recieve is for the product I own: Craftsman 19.2 Volt Inflator, PN: 315.115860. By the way, I own a chest full of Craftsman hand tools, 3 sets of 19.2 Volt power tools, a 4.5 HP Compressor, etc. I always buy Craftsman.

Thank you for your question on the inflator.
You are correct in that is how it works for attaching to the valve stem.
I do not think you can repair it.
I think you will need to replace the hose assembly and I will give you the link for ordering it.
I hope this will help you.
