Why does my gas range smell like plastic?

Household of 4 and the unit gets typical use. Turned it on last night and before it was done preheat mode the house was filled with a burning plastic odor. Having to smell plastic on Range can be quite disappointing to smell. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found this great link in the Manage My Life website and why Range smells like plastic. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

I would remove the oven door and the shelves from the oven. I am sending an image showing how to remove the oven door.

Remove the 2 screws in the rear bottom corners of the oven and lift the oven bottom 1-2 inches. Pull the oven bottom toward the rear of the oven to release the clips in front and lift the oven bottom from the oven.

Inspect the flame spreader above the burner and the bake burner for residue and remove any that is present.

Reassemble the oven and heat at 350 for 1-2 hours to burn any remaining residue.

The range doesn't have any plastic inside the oven so whatever burned was probably dropped into the oven accidentally.
