I have a Craftsman Snowblower model 536.881800 and I have an oil leak

My snowblower is a Craftsman Snowblower model 536.881800 and it is leaking oil from somewhere. I am not exactly sure where the oil is coming from but oil gets all over the parts underneath. The problem is when the oil gets on the friction plate and friction wheel the snowblower starts to slip and will not go forward or reverse. I think it might be a bad Oil Seal(PTO Side) but I don't know that for sure. My snowblower has a Briggs & Stratton engine model 12E114-0268-E1. I guess I have 3 questions. Is it a bad Oil-Seal(PTO Side)? And if that is bad how do I go about fixing that Seal? Is there a repair manuel for this?

thank you for the question.

i will be happy to assist you. usually if the pto seal is bad, it will not leak oil when it is sitting. the reason is the crankshaft is higher than the oil level. so if you notice the engine leaking after it has been sitting i recommend checking the oil drain first. i often see them vibrate loose and leak. if it is ok, check the gasket between the crankcase and the cover. if it is leaking, you will need to take the engine apart to replace it. the parts can be ordered from our parts website: sears parts direct .

we do not offer a repair manual for the snow blower. once you determine where it is leaking, i will be happy to give you the instructions for replacing that part. just reply below with more details.

if you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a sears technician. here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: sears home services .

thank you for using manage my life.
