You can thank your Yard King riding mower and tractor for making it so easy to keep your lawn looking beautiful and well-trimmed. As you ride it, you may sometimes notice that the steering feels a bit loose. If this occurs, check out these simple troubleshooting tips to get your mower back on the straight and narrow in no time.

Check the Tie Rod

Your riding mower's tie rod is one of the key riding mower parts involved in keeping the steering tight and under control. If you find yourself turning the steering wheel but noticing that the wheels aren't turning in response, the tie rod could very well be the issue. Check it out and replace it if necessary.

Look at the Front Axle

If your steering feels loose, take a good look at your front wheels. If they're pointing outwards, you have a problem with your front axle. Start by tightening and adjusting the front axle. If this doesn't solve the problem and you still need further lawn tractor repair help, you may need to replace the axle.

Check the Wheel Spindle Assembly and Steering Kit

The wheel spindle assembly that helps to connect the steering wheel to the wheels and axle can also be involved in loose steering problems. If the steering wheel comes off in your hands, you know this is the problem, and it's also probably involved if you feel the steering wheel wobbling. If you feel the steering slipping when you try to turn, you may have to replace the entire steering kit.
