W.C. Wood freezers help keep foods frozen using an efficient cooling mechanism that relies heavily on a compressor and control system. Over time, issues may crop up with the functionality of these or related parts. Common problems that require troubleshooting include noisy operation of the freezer, extremely hot outer walls and a lack of proper cooling.

Check Internal Temperatures

Use a thermometer to verify that temperatures inside the unit remain at the desired level. If the freezer operates much warmer than expected, certain W.C. Wood freezer parts may be defective. Inspect the compressor start relay to see if it currently functions. If the compressor appears active and functioning, the system may have a coolant leak that requires a technician. Otherwise, replacing the compressor start relay or whole compressor unit may solve the problem.

Ensure Adequate Airflow

During freezer troubleshooting, make sure that the freezer has plenty of airflow. Air movement through the system allows the condenser coils to cool and helps prevent overheating of side panels. Blocked air movement can also lead to compressor malfunction as the system works harder to compensate for a lack of proper airflow. Cleaning the grills and coils that allow air into and out of the system can help address these issues.

Listen to Key Components

Noisy freezers are often a sign that specific components are failing or about to fail. Listen to the source of the components and replace them with quality freezer repair parts before they become an issue that results in spoilage. If the whole system seems loud, check the door gaskets to ensure a proper seal that doesn't allow hot air in or operating sounds to escape.

Sears PartsDirect sells quality replacement parts for chest and upright models of W.C. Wood freezers with shipping direct to consumers. Choose your model from the list above, click the chat button or call 1-800-252-1698.
