Hotpoint Dishwasher Parts
Since the early 1900s, the Hotpoint brand has been delivering high-quality home appliances in conjunction with General Electronics to help users take the hassle out of housekeeping. Hotpoint dishwashers generally run well, but certain issues can affect your machine's ability to drain. While some causes may require the help of a plumber, others can be fixed with quick do-it-yourself repairs or replacement parts from Sears PartsDirect.
Unclog the Drain Line
Grease and debris that pass through the drain pump can become clogged in the drain line, hindering the flow of waste water. Find the drain line at the back of your Hotpoint dishwasher, and squeeze the length of it to break up grease buildup. Ensure that there are no kinks in the line as you check the dishwasher parts. Run the dishwasher on its hottest setting to help melt the buildup and eliminate the clog.
Check the Drain Pump
A clogged or broken drain pump can block the flow of waste water out of the appliance. Complete a dishwasher repair by removing the pump cover and filter assembly after turning off the power to your appliance. Remove all debris from the pump area and filter. If the drain pump doesn't run even when it is receiving power, install a new pump.
Inspect the Check Valve
The check valve prevents waste water from backing up through the drain line and refilling the sump. If water returns into the dishwasher after draining, the valve is likely defective and should be replaced. You can also try clearing away debris that may be keeping the valve from closing properly.
