MAXI-GLIDE DSS VAC

Powerful Bissell vacuums remove dust and dirt from your carpets and rugs, making your home cleaner and more livable. If you notice that the suction on your Bissell is not as powerful as it used to be, it may be time for some simple repairs. Here are a few tips for troubleshooting suction problems.

Check the Canister and Filters

A full dirt canister or filter can impede airflow to your vacuum, causing a drop in suction power. Keep these vacuum parts clean to ensure peak performance. Empty the dirt canister before using the vacuum. If you still notice a loss of power, extract the filter inside the canister and empty it as well. Clean filters with cold water and a gentle detergent. A clogged white HEPA post-motor filter cannot be cleaned and must be replaced.

Check the Hose for Clogs

Clogged hoses are a leading cause of suction loss. Detach the hose from the cleaner, and check for accumulated debris. If you cannot see daylight through the opposite end of the hose, it is clogged. Push the obstruction out of the hose using a blunt object, such as a broomstick.

Check the Brush Belt

If your vacuum makes high-pitched noises and the brushes fail to rotate while the machine is running, your brush belt may have slipped. When the brush belt is disengaged, it cannot rotate the brushes, agitating your carpet in the process. Unplug your vacuum, allow the brush belt to cool, and follow panel-removal procedures. If the brush belt slips off easily, buy a new one from your model's collection of replacement Bissell parts.

Sears PartsDirecthas the replacement parts you need to keep your Bissell working for years to come. Select your model number from the list below, click the chat button or call 1-800-252-1698 for assistance.
