Question and Answers

Q:

How to replace Part Number WR9X513

A:

I understand that you need to replace the damper on your refrigerator. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below if you are interested in viewing. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question. The information you have received from Alina is good but it does not pertain to this model. The damper in this model is thermostatically controlled. This can be a very difficult unit to service even for technicians. I'm attaching a picture with instructions for accessing and removing the air damper. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

This discussion applies to my current situation as well. Normal freezer temp and high fridge temp (52 degrees). Had a servicemen out who says it is the damper and wants to replace both the damper control assembly and the Temp control thermostat. Two questions for you. 1. Should both parts be replaced up front or is it much more likely to be a bad damper and therefore just replace that to start? 2. Looking for a guide on how to do the replacement. You mentioned an attachment with a picture and instructions but I can not access those. Can you forward me any info you may have on hope to make this repair. I also see that you feel the repair is challenging. I am a pretty handy guy but have no formal skills in this area. Would you advise against attempting the repair myself. Thanks for your help. Best Wishes.
