Q:

What part do I need to buy for a fresh food door that swings too far open? ZFSB26DRESS Ge Refrigerator r series

A:

Thank You for contacting ManageMyLife.com

I understand your confusion when reviewing this diagram. After researching your model I show there is a leve at the bottom of both doors. This lever helps keep the door closed. I'm showing there is a spring attached to this lever. The spring may have fallen off or broke on the refrigerator door. I have added an image below show the parts I am refrencing.

Spring # 847

Lever #842

Bottom Door Hinge # 451

Bottom Hinge Pin #263

Do you know which part the 847 spring hooks on to? I'm looking at the freezer door and can't find the same part? Is it the 263 screw? Pat 842 is still on my door, and part 451I'm assuming is screwed into the door.

A:

You would need to remove the bottom grille. The spring should attach to the under-side of the cabinet and to the arm (#842) You are correct 451 is the door hinge that is screwed on.

Q:

ge monogram side by side not dispencing water or ice but ice maker is working inside

A:

If the dispenser light is working, it indicates there is power to it. If both the ice and water won't work, the most common problem will be, with the main control board, located behind the unit. With most of these type refrigerators, some checks can be made, at the board, to check the auger motor and water valve. To check the auger motor itself the main board behind the unit will need to be accessed. Pull the unit out and remove the back cover panel to the board. Now located the J7 harness connection (see picture). On J7-1 you will see a beige wire. Now with the connector still in place, place your meter lead on this wire and the other meter lead on any orange wire connection. Activate the dispenser and check for 120 volts. If there is no voltage there the board # WR55X10942 will need to be replaced. Another check will be to place a jumper between the brown wire on J11 and the beige wire. First disconnect power to the unit. With the jumper in place, reconnect power and the auger motor should run. If it does, it again verifies the board has failed. If it won't run, the auger motor will need to be checked. This same check can be made for the water valve using the yellow wire on J7-3. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Safety Notice: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
