The idler arm will have about one half inch of play, this is normal. I found the instructions from the service manual that explains step by step how to replace the drum belt on your dryer.

First, disconnect power to the dryer. From the front reach between the top of the blower housing and the side of the cabinet & force the idler assembly to the extreme right, slip the belt over the motor pulley. Follow the rest of the steps found in the attachment provided below. If you run into problems or have anymore questions please get back with us on this.

Please click on the attachment below for details.

The first responder's links have good info but is for another model.

Your welcome & thank you for the follow-up. I think I know what you're doing wrong; the drum needs to be in position before trying to put the belt back on. I know this sounds difficult but it is possible. You will need to reach under the drum with the drum still in place to put the belt on correctly. Position the belt on the drum as described in the instructions. Reach between the drum & blower on the right hand side & on the left hand side close to the left panel. The rest is done by feel only; force the idler to the extreme right with one hand & while holding it there slip the belt on the motor pulley. Slowly let the idler go back down until it rest against the belt, now slowly rotate the drum counter clockwise with both hands on the outer rim, be careful of sharp metal edges in the process, to align the belt around the drum. I hope this information is helpful but if you run into problems or have anymore questions please get back with us on this.
