Question and Answers

Q:

GE Washer Model wwa8314vkl

A:

A washer is still one appliance that seems like a good do it yourself repair. Not easy but doable. I located a previous expert post for replacing the pump on a GE washer with diagrams. It is not your model but you can check to see if it looks like yours. If it is not the expert will still be reviewing and respond for your model. I also added the schematics and parts list for your model if needed.

This is an older unit and I'm afraid any pictures would be on stone tablets.

Fortunately I'm a old guy.

It will help to remove the rear panel to the washer and to tilt it forward for a little better access to the pump and hoses.

You will need a small socket set with an extension. I believe the bolts or either 1/4 or 5/16 of a inch.

A hose clamp will also aid in removing the hoses.

First remove the coulpling that connects the pump to the motor. There is a bracket that must be removed. Remove the screw and open the bracket up to remove it.

The screw on the back side of the pump is the most difficult to access and remove. A socket extension will help with this.

I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.
