Q:

Shipping Bolt Installation WTW6200SW2 Whirlpool Residential washer

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Are you sure of the model number provided? Because this is a top load washer with agitator and it would not use shipping bolts. Shipping bolts are used for front load washers or very select top loads with washplate applications (no agitator inside).

How did you acquire the shipping bolts? Did you order them? If by chance there is a discrepancy with the model, reply back with the correct one, otherwise, shipping bolts are not required for this unit.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thanks for the response Steve. I apologize for the confusion on the shipping bolts, this unit definitely doesn't require them.

Based upon your response, I opened the installation guide and on page 7, I see what you are referring to with the shipping base and packing ring. Unfortunately, if you didn't keep them from the initial installation, you won't be able to find them. They are not manufactured for distribution. They are meant as protective means from the manufacturer through transit from the retailer to end consumer.

You can fabricate these protective shipping pieces if desired, they are just foam pieces that would go on the bottom of the unit (shipping base) and around the top of the tub (packing ring) secured by tape. I don't think they are critical to protect the drum but more or less a way for the manufacturer to prevent unnecessary damage from the manufacturer to end consumer. Sometimes long transits can be hard on units.

If you plan to move the unit yourself, and don't foresee any major tipping or unnecessarily hard handling, I'm sure you will be just fine, however, if you would rather err on the side of caution, I would pick up some styrofoam from a craft shop or the like and fabricate it into place on the washer. That way you know you'll be secure.

Hopefully this clarifies things and wish you all the best on the upcoming move. If you have any further questions, I am here to assist. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
