Question and Answers

Q:

Whirlpool cabrio wTW5500XW00

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your washer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number wtw5500xw0 and to start the automatic diagnostic cycle, follow these steps:

Turn the washer off. It must be in the standby mode to begin this test (plugged in with all indicator lights off).

Select any one button except the POWER, START, STOP or PAUSE/CANCEL. Using the selected button, follow these steps:

Press and hold for 3 seconds

Release for 3 seconds

Press and hold for 3 seconds

Release for 3 seconds

Press and hold for 3 seconds

If this entry into the automatic diagnostic test mode is successful, then all console lights will illuminate for 5 seconds and 88 will appear in the estimated time remaining display.

If there are any saved fault codes in the washer memory, they will be displayed. To scroll through multiple saved fault codes, press the key that you selected to enter the diagnostic mode.

After the final saved fault code is displayed, the diagnostic test cycle will begin. Here is a brief description of the diagnostic cycle:

C0 - Basket spins at 23rpm.

C1 - Warm water fills through fresh and detergent valves and then fresh valve to minimum level

C2 - Cold water fills through bleach valve for 10 seconds

C3 - Hot water fills through fabric softener valve for 10 seconds

C4 - Warm water fills through detergent valve for 10 seconds

C5 - Agitate for 15 seconds

C6 - Recirculate for 10 seconds

C7 - Drain until basket is engaged plus timed drain for 10 seconds

C8 - Drain and slow spin at 23rpm

C9 - Coast to stop

This is the only way to run the washer with the lid open. This diagnostic cycle tests all functions of the washer. If the washer detects a failure, it will usually signal a fault code If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself and would like to schedule service, just click on this link. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.
