Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my GE washer not agitating or spinning?

A:

If you can hear the drive motor running & nothing is happening, I suspect that the belt has come off or the motor pulley came off. Take a putty knife & release the locking clips #373 holding the front panel in position. With the panel off you will be able to see if the belt is on or off of the pulleys. If the motor pulley clip #412 came loose, you should be able to reuse the belt & pulley after replacing just the clip. Another possibility is a transmission failure.

If the pulley or motor is damaged they will need replaced. The motor pulley is also the clutch.
