Loud spin cycle WPRE6150K1WT Ge Washer

Thank you for choosing and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when you have a loud spin cycle.

WH2X1198 is the tub bearing that may be going out. I first recommend checking the pulley and belt to make sure those are not causing the noise.

If the washer is making a loud noise the drive pulley might be worn out, cracked, loose or bent. Remove the drive pulley and inspect it carefully. If it is damaged or defective replace it.

You will need to disassemble your washer in order to inspect the parts.

 To Remove Front Panel:
1. Locate two spring clips between cover
and front panel, by aligning putty knife with
groove on either side of lid and cover.
2. Insert putty knife and push forward to release
3. Rotate front panel forward and lift off cabinet base
locating tabs.
4. Reverse procedure to reassemble.

To Remove Cover/Lid Assembly:
1. Remove front panel using step 3 .
2. Remove two 1/4" hex screws on front of cabinet.
3. Reach under the lid assembly and locate lid switch. Squeeze lid switch latch in to release while gently pushing it upward. Guide through lid switch opening.
4. Remove cover/lid assembly.
5. Reverse procedure to reassemble.

To Remove Spin Basket:

1. Follow steps 3 and 4 .
2. Remove five hex screws from control panel bracket. Tilt bracket up and out of the way. Note that the water valve and fill nozzle are attached to the control panel bracket as well. On some models, the load-size switch is attached to the control panel bracket. If this switch needs to be removed, tilt control panel bracket up and squeeze load-size switch mounting snap with pliers from underside to
3. Disconnect four dampening straps from tub attached by 5/16" hex screws.
4. Remove tub cover by lifting out eight molded tabs on tub cover, and pull cover off.
5. Lift the dispenser top tab and turn the top counterclockwise using the 2 turning tabs. Lift the dispenser out of the pulsator.
6. Remove 7/16" hex bolt attaching pulsator to spline shaft.
7. Remove pulsator by lifting it straight up and off the shaft.
8. Remove left-handed 1-11/16" hub nut. This nut is aluminum; take care not to round the edges when
removing or replacing.

washer GE lights on control panel are flashing

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on the symptom, it sounds like the washer is the service mode. All the LED's will flash when the unit is placed in the service mode.

Also, when you removed and replaced the control board, did you remove the "model select" harness plug jumper? You must remove the harness plug model selector jumper harness from the old control and install it on the new control or the control will not know which model washer and cycles it has and all the LED's will flash and the washer will not operate. If you did not remove the harness selector plug and installed it on the new control, this is why all the LED's are flashing.
I added an image below of the tech sheet which should also should have come attached to the washer in the control panel or behind the front panel. I also added an image showing where the model harness plug connects.
I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Hi Tabitha,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The FA you are seeing on this washer is most likely a designation for fast agitation. If this washer will not spin, it is likely a programming issue. The first thing I recommend is running the field service mode and seeing if the washer will spin. I am including the field service mode information in the images below. Run the field service mode and let me know what you find.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
