You don't say but I assume the washer at one time worked okay and the vibration is a new problem. If the problem just started then most likely the floor is not the problem.

If the problem just started then I suspect the problem is with the shocks and/or suspension springs. You can remove the top and lower access panel to check the shocks and springs. See the image below for help with this. Remember to unplug the washer first .

If one shock seems bad then plan on replacing both. The same thing for the suspension springs. Another potential problem would be one of the support arms of the spin basket has come loose. It might even be a bearing problem though most times a bad bearing makes a loud freight train noise.

If you do not feel comfortable making these checks, service can be scheduled at the following link: Sears Home Services . Parts can be purchased from Sears PartsDirect . I hope this helps.

It is not a new problem, but I did get the washer at a Sears scratch and dent sale, so there may have been a problem prior to installation. I'll open it up and take a look, if I can't make sense of it, I'll get back on and bug you some more. Thanks for the assist.

In my opinion the third floor installation could be the issue. Even new buildings can have that problem. Another common cause of excessive vibration is shipping rods or strapping for the tub not being removed properly. If you don't have the manual to check the this this website can likely furnish it. I don't know about warranties on scratch & dent, but you could call 1-800-469-4663 to find out. There are now some very good top-loading high-efficiency washers available now.
