Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer is not working properly.

I recommend taking your unit apart to check the damper assembly and the bearing.

The damper is what balances the tub in your washer.

the cabinet cover.

Q:

The drum bearings WM3431HS Lg Washer

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Lg Washer, Model: WM3431HS. From reviewing the details on your model, this can be a difficult issue to diagnose. Check to see if you are getting the UL code even when the washer is completely empty. If you do, then you could have an item stuck between the spin basket and the outer washer tub. The first image below shows how to remove the spin basket on this type of Whirlpool washer. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. You need to cheek the tub ring. The tub ring contains water to help with balance. The bearings can make off balance an issue, turn the tub by hand to check for drag. The second image shows the suspension. If you find no items between the spin basket and the outer tub, if the washer is not having any trouble with an unbalanced condition in the wash cycle before it gets to the high speed spin then you may need to replace the machine control board in the console. There really is no way to check the electronics. The third image shows how to replace the control board in this type of washer.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the washer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.
