Question and Answers

Why won't my Whirlpool gas dryer heat?

The dryer manual refers to checking the house electrical breakers or fuses if you have an electric dryer. Since you have a gas dryer, the unit has electrical power if the motor runs. Make sure that the gas supply line valve is open and that the dryer has an adequate gas supply.

There is a thermal fuse inside the dryer cabinet that can prevent the dryer from heating if it is blown. The following link of a previous answer describes how to check the thermal fuse in this type of Whirlpool dryer: Why won't my Whirlpool gas dryer heat?

Your thermal fuse will may have a red and blue wire attached to it instead of two blue wires.

If the thermal fuse is blown, you can order a new one from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 3392519.

Be sure to check for restricted exhaust venting if your thermal fuse was blown. A clogged exhaust vent could cause the thermal fuse to blow again if it is not cleared.

If the thermal fuse is okay, check the other components listed in the link of the previous answer. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
