Q:

What should the torque be on the rear tub shaft/pulley nut on a WFW9550WW00?

A:

Tried again just now...loosened the pulley nut just enough until the pulley wobbled a bit when I jostled it back and forth, then tightened it a quarter turn (blue loctite 290 "seal" broke but still in the threads). Started up drain/spin cycle (no water in unit). When it got to high RPMs I could smell something burning and the belt wasn't hot once I canceled and let it spin down. Brand new bearings (inside and out) for the drum shaft as well as a brand new seal. Any ideas on what could be rubbing on the inside of the tub? IMAGE: Picture of inner bearing and seal just before reassembly. (both bearings and inside seal were replaced. White is 100% Silicon which cured for 30+ hours Thanks for any clues, Tim

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The torque is not stated, tighten and if you are using locktite, you should be good to go.  Now I see you have replaced the bearing in the rear tub. The issue should not be the shaft, it is squared to the pulley.  The bearings may be the problem.  If you are hearing a dragging sound and belt is hot.  I know the bearings are for sale, but the manufacture recommends to factory service technicians to replace the rear tub with the bearing assembly factory installed and machine aligned.

I have heard of this problem and if you spin the basket by hand it should not rub and make any noise, if it does the bearing are the fault.  Below is the pulley install instructions for the 15/16 nut.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

A:

Thanks Bill. I have a new issue...ran a Clean Washer cycle that, as you likely know, locks the door. When the tub filled, it started leaking out of the shaft (seal issue I'm sure). My problem is, I couldn't get it to cancel the Clean Washer cycle even after cycling the power. Is there a way to cancel this cycle on this unit? If not, is there a way to get the door unlocked after I'm able to drain the tub? Thanks, Tim
